It’s a nice point, but it helps focus my point, it doesn’t detract from it.

Yes, any election system sets up people who matter to the campaigns and people who don’t. If that difference is because of the person, that’s fine. (Indeed, that’s democracy.) But if it is because of the voting system, it is not fine. Put differently, when it is the counting system that is rendering someone who would otherwise matter irrelevant, the problem is the counting system.
